The Eastern Townships are a large area of Quebec that hugs the American border. Beginning at Lake Champlain it reaches as far east as the Quebec/Maine border. Comprising of the land south of the St Lawrence River not granted under the French seigneurial system, The Eastern Townships was settled by the British in the 1790's.
